Mexico announced the call up list for a U20 Training Camp and two friendly games against Guatemala to take place in the upcoming March FIFA window. Under coach Raul Chabrand, Mexico will have a training camp from March 22 until March 29th in which they will play twice against Guatamala, on March 26th and then again on March 29th. The training camp and the matches will take place in the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR).
The call up list was the following:
Goalkeepers: Fernando Tapia (America), Hector Holguin (Santos), Ruben Castellanos (Necaxa)
Defenders: Alejandro Gomez (Boavista), Victor Guzman (Tijuana), Ramon Juarez (America), Jesus Rivas (Pumas), Oscar Villa (Necaxa), Emilio Lara (America), Jesus Orozco (Chivas), Jose Castillo (Pachuca), Jorge Rodriguez (Toluca)
Midfielders: Eugenio Pizzuto (Lille), Santiago Naveda (America), Amaury Garcia (Pumas), Edgar Games (Santos), Gerson Vasquez (Tijuana), Jordan Carrillo (Santos), Alejandro Andrade (Necaxa), Angel Zapata (Monterrey), Omar Campos (Santos)
Forwards: Luca Martinez Dupoy (Rosario Central), Jonathan Herrera (Atlas), Bryan Gonzalez (Pachuca), Ruben Hernandez (Tijuana), Angel Robles (Puebla)
The most notable call ups is the fact there will be three players who play outside Mexico, Eugenio Pizzuto of Lille, Alejandro Gomez of Boavista and Luca Martinez Dupoy of Rosario Central. A couple of players that were part of the training camp process for the Olympic qualifying tournament are also part of the team, among them Victor Guzman, Santiago Naveda, and Ramon Juarez. Mexico has a solid team and yet because of COVID-19, there is no World Cup tournament to be played and the team will not have any tournament of note for the time being. Still Mexico needs to continue to prepare and it looks like this could be the start of the process for the 2024 Olympic games qualification.
