This was confirmed by the website for RC Deportivo A Coruña, where Costa Rican squad members Noelia Bermúdez and Stephanie Blanco play professionally, when the club announced the players had received their most recent call ups for the national team.
At the time of publication, neither the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) nor the Costa Rican Football Federation (FCF) had published any confirmation of the matches. This would be the first time México had a game against live competition since a 0-0 draw with the Czech Republic in the 2020 Cyprus Cup, back on March 11, 2020. México finished in third place in the round-robin tournament, also getting a 1-1 draw against Croatia and a 2-2 draw against Slovakia.
