Pumas hopes to continue the good start to the Clausura 2020 at home when they face a tough match against Atletico San Luis. Pumas will face an old friend in Coach Guillermo Vasquez, who has gotten a lot of results against the team he coached to a Championship in Clausura 2011. Pumas sit a point from the top spot and has been a solid home team but San Luis looks to be improving as the team is undefeated in Clausura 2020.

Pumas’ start to the season has been a nice surprise for a Pumas team that wasn’t expected to do much better than last season. Under Coach Michel, Pumas has continued the tradition of being a strong home team. They won both home games so far, including one against current Liga MX champions Monterrey where they played their best game of the season. Pumas last week got off another great performance when they got an away tie against a tough Santos. Now they are going to another home game, but they will have a tough time against one of the best coaches in Mexico. Not only is Vasquez a great coach but he has had success against his old team, including a victory against them at home when he was coaching Veracruz. That time Pumas came undefeated just like they do on Sunday. Still, Pumas should be favored against a team that hasn’t played at 12:00 PM in Mexico City so far. It might be the toughest home match so far.

Atletico San Luis has improved a lot under coach Guillermo Vasquez. Still, they only have one win so far this season against Cruz Azul. They were minutes away from getting a result against Vasquez last time, Necaxa but ultimately tied in the final minute. Now he faces a team he knows about, and even if his team has played in a noon match he just can’t transmit that feeling to his players. Pumas will be the toughest match they have played in their season so far, as both Cruz Azul and Chivas were home games and Tigres had a lousy performance in their home opener (although a better Tigres team would have been tougher matchup than Pumas). If things go according to plan, they might get a tie, but they will try for a win if they can get it.

Pumas will have a tough match with Atletico San Luis. History might not be in their side as the old San Luis Potosi football club had historically gotten a lot of good results in the Estadio Olimpico Universitario. This Atletico San Luis team already got a tie in their only visit to the Olimpico Universitario stadium, a 1-1 tie in Copa MX. That match though was at night and they might be in a rude awakening if the conditions of the Sunday at noon are in full force, just as it has hampered a lot of teams with better squads than them.
