Mexico announced the call up list for a new U20 Training Camp that will take place from February 24 to the 26th. The Training Camp will be under coach Raul Chabrand and will include three training session, concluding with a closed door friendly against a rival that wasn’t named. Mexico is preparing for the U20 Concacaf Championship that will be held in June in Honduras.
The call up list is the following:
Goalkeepers: Carlos Rodas (Pachuca), Hector Holguin (Santos), Ruben Castellanos (Necaxa)
Defenders: Jesus Gomez (Atlas), Jesus Rivas (Pumas), Victor Guzman (Tijuana), Ramon Juarez (America), Cristopher Torres (Tijuana), Diego Campillo (Chivas), Oscar Villa (Leon), Luis Flores (Atlas), Uzim Garcia (San Luis)
Midfielders: Edgar Games (Santos), Amaury Garcia (Pumas), Jordan Carrillo (Santos), Zahid Muñoz (Chivas), Diego Medina (Santos), Gerson Vasquez (Queretaro), Santiago Naveda (America), Omar Campos (Santos)
Forwards: Benjamin Galdames (Audax Italiano), Emmanuel Montejano (Pumas), Sebastian Martinez (Chivas), Ettson Ayon (Tijuana)
The most notable call up is for Chilean based Benjamin Galdames, who is the son of ex-Chilean international Pablo Galdames. Galdames got called up for the last training camp bud didn’t attend because of passport problems. Among the most notable thing is the lack of minutes of first division experience from most players. Edgar Games of Santos is probably the leading candidate but most of the team has few minutes of actions. The other notable addition is the call up of 2019 U17 World Cup defenders Alejandro Gomez and Victor Guzman. Guzman was called up to the latest camp but this will be Gomez first callup. Among the players missing, the most notable is probably Santiago Gimenez who will be playing for Cruz Azul in the Concacaf Champions League and thus couldn’t be called up.
