On Friday, January 10th, President of the Board of Directors of Orlegi Sports Alejandro Irarragorri will meet with a group of 100 Atlas fans in Guadalajara for a question and answer session. Irarragorri and Grupo Orlegi purchased Atlas from Grupo Salinas in April of 2019, and has since instituted sweeping changes throughout the organization.

According to a press release from the club, “this activity aims to address concerns and build a foundation that allows us to grow hand in hand with our fans to enhance the future of the Mexican Soccer Academy.” It seeks to address “(constructive) questions, concerns or comments” from fans. Irarragorri has been vocal about connecting with Atlas fans, much in the way Santos Laguna has connected with their fans in Torreón and around the world.

Since being acquired by Orlegi, Atlas brought in manager Leandro Cufré and a host of players including Jesús Angulo and Martín Nervo from Santos Laguna last season and Luciano Acosta and José Abella prior to the start of the 2020 Clausura. They also instituted Valor Rojinegro, which mirrors Santos’ charitable arm Guerreros de Corazón to serve the community in Guadalajara. Fans largely seem pleased with the results so far under Orlegi, as the club barely missed the Liguilla in the 2019 Apertura and look to be on a path toward sustained success.

A spokesperson for Orlegi Sports has confirmed this event will be streamed.
