Federico Viñas’s 85th minute strike cancelled out a first half goal from Diego Rolan as Club América and FC Juárez settled for a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Juárez went in front after only 11 minutes through Diego Rolan, who ran into a Mauro Fernandez cross and headed the ball past América goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

The goal came just moments after Giovani dos Santos had a goal disallowed from a very close offside call.

Giovani dos Santos then came close to scoring again when he sent a left-footed shot just narrowly wide of the goalkeepers left post.

Club América came alive in the second half, first through a dangerous cross from Antonio Lopez and then from a missed header from Roger Martinez.

But América’s equalizer wouldn’t come until the 85th minute. With two defenders on him, Henry Martin laid the ball off to Federico Viñas, who stuck in his second goal of the season to earn Las Águilas a hard-earned point.

With the result, Club América have now gone winless in each of their last six games across all competitions, although five of those have been draws. Their next match is this Saturday against none other than Chivas in the Clásico Nacional.
