After pulling out a last-minute winner against Monarcas Moreila last weekend, Monterrey returns to action at home, looking to make it three wins in a row against Club Deportivo Toluca. Los Diablos Rojos are in a bit of a bad way, with only one point and one goal scored so far this season. Monterrey would go a long way towards cementing their place in the Liguilla spots with a win this weekend, as they sit on six points and in 10th place going into Saturday’s matches.

Monterrey’s big off-season acquisition might make his debut tonight, as he’s reportedly been included in the matchday squad. Vincent Janssen, who was brought in from England’s Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks ago, looks to be ready, although he will almost certainly come off the bench, probably late in the match.

Los Rayados should be able to get a win against a Toluca team which already looks to have thrown in the towel on this season, and while they haven’t always made it look easy or even look more than mediocre, except for a few stretches, Monterrey are finally starting to get wins after losing two straight matches to start the season. However, no matter how they come, three points are still three points. Monterrey will need to pick up a win this weekend, as they go to Torreón to face Apertura leaders and undefeated Santos Laguna next week.

Here’s hoping that Janssen can get his opening goal for the club this weekend and Los Rayados can pick up another win at home.
