Goals from Eduardo “La Chofis” Lopez, Alan Pulido and Oswaldo Alanis gave Chivas Guadalajara a 3-0 home win over Liga MX newcomers Atletico San Luis on Saturday.

The Rojiblancos had early control of the match and took a quick lead when Chofis sent a brilliant left-footed strike into the bottom corner of the net.

Atletico San Luis, though, should have hit back just before the break after Nicolas Ibañez found space inside the area but saw his header blocked by Antonio Rodriguez.

In the opening moments of the second half, Joaquin Laso hit the bar in San Luis’s first meaningful attack of the period.

But the action soon switched back to the other end, and after consulting with the VAR, a penalty was called in favor of Chivas. Alan Pulido stepped up and scored to double the lead for the Rojiblancos.

Oribe Peralta then made way for Alexis Vega in the 70th minute, a change that would eventually pay dividends for coach Tomas Boy. With six minutes remaining in the match, a second penalty was called after Vega was tripped inside the box. This time it would be Oswaldo Alanis to step up and score Chivas’ third goal of the night.

At the end, Chivas had plenty opportunities to finish off the game in style, but it was all smiles for the Rojiblancos at the final whistle as they earned their second win of the regular season.

With the win, Chivas momentarily move up to sixth in the league table with seven points.
