In a repeat of one of last season’s Liga MX Semifinal matchups, Club León play host to Club América in action of Week 2 the 2019 Liga MX Apertura. In addition to having two teams that won their first game of the season, both Club León and Club América are considered amongst the favorites to win the title, making this one of the early-season battles to watch for.

Miguel Herrera’s men arrive to this game on a high after three straight wins, all of which were played across three different competitions, including a win over Tigres in the Campeón de Campeones title match. Most recently, Las Águilas defeated the Houston Dynamo on penalties to advance to the Semifinals of the Leagues Cup.

Meanwhile, León passed their first real test of the season after beating Pachuca 3-1 in Week 1. La Fiera have been arguably one of the more consistent teams in Liga MX during the last six months, and look poised to bet once again one of the most talked about teams in this Apertura.

To León’s credit, they have done particularly well against América in recent seasons. La Fiera has actually won three of their last four matches versus Las Águilas. Their only defeat through that span came last season during the Semifinals, series in which León still managed to advance from despite losing the home leg.
