For a second season in a row, Los Angeles Football Club’s Carlos Vela has been voted as captain of the MLS All-Star team.
The Mexican forward has been without question the best player in Major League Soccer through the course of the first half of the season, and his numbers currently tally at 21 goals scored and 12 assists.
Interestingly enough, Carlos Vela remains as the only Mexican player to have ever captained an MLS All-Star team, with even MLS-favorites Rafael Marquez and Cuauhtemoc Blanco never getting to experience that honor.
Vela won’t be the only Mexican player on the field for the MLS All-Star Team, with Jonathan dos Santos also making the cut for a second year in a row.
The 2019 MLS All-Star game will take place on Wednesday, July 31 against Hector Herrera and Atletico Madrid. This will be the first time the Spanish giants participate in a Major League Soccer All-Star Game.
