The 2019 Liga MX Clausura will arrive to its conclusion on Sunday as León play host to Tigres looking to lift their first Liga MX title at home since 1992.
Tigres won the first leg 1-0, which means any form of win or draw would be enough to see Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti’s men lift the title.
For León, their defeat at the Estadio Universitario was only the first time this season they lost consecutive games, which serves as a testament of just how good this team has been through the course of the Clausura. Here, however, they are going to need another massive performance, especially from their offense, who has disappeared in the last two games going scoreless in both.
The good news is León will welcome back Rubens Sambueza after the Argentine missed the first leg through suspension. Sambueza has been in and out of the León lineup this season, but he is no doubt a boost for coach Ignacio Ambriz.
Speaking of Ignacio Ambriz, the León manager has a date with destiny. Ambriz has already won the Copa MX and CONCACAF Champions League titles, which means the only title for him left is the Liga MX one. Obviously, it won’t come easy as he is going up against arguably one of the best managers to ever step foot in Liga MX in Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti.
So, who will it be? Will it be Ambriz and his record-breaking Fiera, or will Ferretti and Tigres continue adding to their championship dynasty?
