Mexico’s team that faced El Salvador

After getting their ticket to the U-17 World Cup, Mexico will face Haiti, the surprise team of the tournamentt, in search of a place in the final. While the most important games were the quarterfinals, Mexico has the mission of trying to win the tournament and will need to get through a tough Haiti team that had to play 120 minutes against Honduras to book their ticket. The winner of the game will play the winners of the North American battle between host the United States and Canada on Thursday.

First and foremost, Mexico will hope to improve, although it is worth mentioning they have suffered against teams like Haiti before. They do arrive in better condition after only playing 90 minutes in the Quarterfinals. The result of that match was never in doubt, and they rarely had to push themselves after taking advantage of El Salvador’s troubles. Haiti, on the other hand, not only had to battle for 120 minutes, but they had the task of playing in a penalty shootout. This should help Mexico, as they are a team that suffers with physical speedy teams in youth games, something Haiti brings to the table.

That said, Haiti will come to this game with their goal already met and without the added pressure of needing to win the tournament. This should be a big mental boost against a Mexico team that is looking to win the title and show they are good enough to bounce back in their return to the U-17 World Cup.
