Club América will have the chance to lift their first Copa MX title in more than 45 years when they take on the surprise team of the competition, Bravos de Juárez, in the 2019 Copa MX Clausura Final.
Las Águilas are without question the most winning team in Mexican football history, but this is one trophy that has evaded América through the course of the last four decades. On paper, they arrive as absolute favorites to win it, and it makes sense given that they will be facing an Ascenso MX side in Juárez.
But Juárez isn’t just any Ascenso MX team, as they arrive to this game on on a high after taking down three straight Liga MX teams on their path to the final. They are also coached by former Pachuca midfielder Gabriel Caballero, who won a league title over Las Águilas with Los Tuzos in the 2007 Clausura Final.
Most recently, Juárez were responsible for taking down América in the Round of 16 of the 2018 Copa MX Apertura, their only previous meeting ever versus Las Águilas.
Oddly enough, Club América will be going against history here, as they have only won an official FMF trophy once outside of Mexico City. This game will take place in the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juárez, which we can expect to be rocking in arguably one of the biggest games in FC Juárez’s history.
