Club América eased to a 3-0 win over Tigres UANL as Las Águilas recorded their seventh victory of the season in what was initially billed as one of the games of the week.
The hosts carved out the first goal of the game in under five minutes when Bruno Valdes fired América into the lead after following up his own rebound.
Following a slow start, Tigres showed signs of life after Javier Aquino had a shot blocked by Agustin Marchesin.
Mateus Uribe then threatened with his own shot from distance, forcing Nahuel Guzman to a good save.
Within minutes of the second half getting underway, the lead was doubled when an Emanuel Aguilera free kick sneaked below the Tigres wall and into the back of the net.
Nicolas Benedetti then had the final word with only two minutes remaining, combining with Henry Martin at the edge of the box before steering the ball past Nahuel Guzman.
