Mexico announce call up list for U-18 Tour in Dubai

Mexico will play friendlies against Russia, Belgium and England in the United Arab Emirates.

Mexico announced that their U-18 team will play a tour of games in Dubai next week. Unlike the other youth teams, who all will start their camps for their friendlies next week, the team started training camp this week and will play a friendly against an unnamed rival on March 16. They will then travel to Dubai where they will face Russia in a friendly on Wednesday, March 20. Two days later they will play Belgium before closing out against England on March, 24.

The call up list for the tournament is led by Necaxa’s Ricardo Monreal and will have a less experienced team than others. While it’s not known what competition the U-18 is preparing for, the news this week was that Mexico confirmed they will be taking part in the Toulon Tournament and will probably go with this team, as the tournament will be played right in the middle of the U-20 World Cup. The team will be managed by coach Enrique Echeverria.

The call up list was as followed:

Goalkeepers; Victor Mendoza (Tijuana), Fernando Tapia (America), Hector Holguin (Santos)

Defenders; Kevin Antuna (Santos), Christopher Torres (Tijuana), Eduardo Garcia (Toluca), Santiago Roman (Puebla), Christian Alvarado (Tigres), Ramon Juarez (America), Brandon Herrera (Pumas), Sebastian Medina (Atlas)

Midfielders: Julian Vasquez (Real Salt Lake), Jonathan Herrera (Atlas), Sebastian Martinez (Chivas), Jesus Mejia (Pumas), Jordan Carrillo (Santos), Alan Reyes (Atlas), Edgar Games (Santos), Irvin Ortiz (Chivas), Santiago Naveda (America), Diego Medina (Santos), Gerson Vasquez (Queretaro)

Forwards: Ricardo Monreal (Necaxa), Amaury Garcia (Pumas), Luis Gutierrez (America), Ettson Ayon (Tijuana)
