The big highlights of this team are Chivas forward Ronaldo Cisneros, Pumas right-back Alan Mozo and Veracruz goalkeeper Sebastian Jurado, the latter of which is having an incredible season as the league’s goalkeeper with the most saves (47) and saves from inside the box (28).
Necaxa’s Cristian Calderon and America’s Sebastian Cordova are two more who have enjoyed more minutes this semester and have given their respective teams some important goals in the process.
Also in this team are both Angulo brothers, one from Santos and one from Tijuana, who are both named Jesus! Yes, they’re brothers with the same first name. Confused? You should be.
There are no real snubs, but some noteworthy absenses include 21-year-old Aldo Cruz, of Lobos BUAP, who doesn’t make much noise but has played every single minute of the Clausura. Also absent is 21-year-old Uriel Antuna, who just recently transferred to LA Galaxy, 22-year-old Edgar Zaldivar, an undisputed starter at Atlas and Roberto Meraz, who plays the holding mid role well at Morelia.
Lozano is in his first tenure as Mexico U-22 coach and he will lead the side during the CONCACAF men’s Olympic qualifying tournament in October. The two finalists will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Japan.
