In a press conference today, Cruz Azul manager Pedro Caixinha was asked about the future of Liga MX Femenil, which has been the subject of some discussion as of late.
His response? “No juego con faldas”
“I don’t play with skirts”
¿Qué piensan de la respuesta de Caixinha cuando le preguntaron sobre la situación económica de la @LIGAMXFemenil ?

Caixinha’s sexist comments are frankly beneath the manager of one of the biggest clubs in Mexico, and he should apologize immediately. A good place to start would be with his peers with Cruz Azul Femenil’s coaching staff and the players too, who I would imagine are feeling some mixture of shame and revulsion at the comments of a co-worker. Perhaps Caixinha can further educate himself on the nuances of the women’s game by attending a match and seeing for himself that the women’s game is worthy of respect and admiration instead of derision.
If there’s a small silver lining to this ugly incident, it’s that almost no one was laughing at Caixinha’s comment and it was met instead with quiet. Cruz Azul will face Toluca on Sunday in Liga MX play.
