Goals from Renato Ibarra and Roger Martinez were enough for Club América to secure all three points with a 2-0 victory over Querétaro at the Estadio Azteca.

Las Águilas came into this contest on the back of their first defeat in more than five months but were taking on a Querétaro team that arrived winless and last in the league standings after only four weeks.

It was the hosts who started the brightest and took a 13th minute lead when Renato Ibarra smashed in a long-distance effort past the the Querétaro goalkeeper to open the scoring.

However, after going into the break down a goal, Querétaro started to grow into the game as George Corral was the first to to test Agustin Marchesin from outside the box.

Camilo Sanvezzo then came closest to grabbing the equalizer when he hit a strong free-kick into the path of Marchesin, forcing the Argentine keeper to deflect the ball out for a corner.

Roger Martinez eventually made the points secure when VAR had to be used for a penalty call in favor of Las Águilas. Martinez converted the spot kick with ease to make it 2-0.
