Alexis Vega’s hat-trick earned Chivas a 3-0 victory over Atlas in the 156th edition of the Clásico Tapatio.
An evening that began with Alexis Vega yet to score a goal for his new club ended on the brightest of notes for the former Toluca forward, as he scored all three goals for the Rebaño.
After three straight Liga MX games without a win for Chivas, Vega eased the tension early when an error from the Atlas backline led to a lob finish past Atlas keeper Jose Hernandez.
It was Vega’s first goal since arriving to Chivas, and having notched his first, it didn’t take long for the 21-year-old to grab a second. Vega built on Chivas’ lead by firing into the back of the net from an excellent through ball from Isaac Brizuela.
In the second half, Vega added even further gloss to his performance, completing his hat-trick. Again, Isaac Brizuela created a play from almost nothing down the right wing for Vega to tap in and seal the three points.
With the result, Chivas climbed up to fourth in the league table with 14 points and earned their fourth Clásico Tapatio victory in six matches.
