Wild games have been the norm in this Liguilla, and another one is expected this evening at the Estadio Universitario when Tigres host Club América looking to seal their place in the Semifinals of the 2019 Liga MX Apertura.
The First Leg ended 2-1 in favor of Los Felinos, who came back from a goal down to put in a great defensive effort at the Estadio Azteca. This time around, their defense will, no doubt, once again be put under pressure by an América team that needs to score at least two goals to have any chance of advancing to the next round.
Games between América and Tigres have become a regular occurrence through the course of the last few years, and one particular game between these two teams sticks out. It was the 2014 Liga MX Apertura Final, and with Las Águilas needing to win by two goals, they scored three to lift the title, albeit the Second Leg was played at the Estadio Azteca.
In some respect, a Club América comeback isn’t out of the question, though Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti and Andre-Pierre Gignac will want to put a stop to any América rally as soon as possible, especially at home where they lost just once all season.
Will América make a comeback or will Tigres live another day in their bid for back-to-back titles?
