Thanks to an Alan Pulido brace, Chivas came from behind to earn a 3-1 win over Toluca to earn their second straight Liga MX win away from home.
The aways fans were quickly stunned into silence as Toluca’s Felipe Pardo smashed in the go-ahead goal for the Diablos Rojos after just 13 minutes.
Chivas then started to take the initiative of the game, and after trailing only 20 minutes managed to equalize through Javier Eduardo “Chofis” Lopez. Alan Pulido cleverly threaded a ball for Chofis, who made no mistake to put the ball into the back of the net.
Four minutes later and Chivas had the lead. This time some clever ball movement around the box led to Alan Pulido firing the Rojiblancos to a 2-1 lead.
After the break, Chivas kept the initiative, and Chofis came close to doubling the lead after brilliantly dribbling his way into the box and forcing Alfredo Talavera to a good save.
Toluca’s best chance to equalize came in the 71st minute when Antonio Rodriguez became the hero by saving a dangerous Jonathan Maidana header off a corner.
Pulido then wrapped up the victory when Isaac Brizuela got into the act by finding Pulido inside the box to score the 3-1.
With the win, Chivas overtook Toluca in the league table up to 15th place, though they remain without a chance of qualifying to the Liguilla.
