LAFC vs LA Galaxy: Preview, TV Schedule, and How To Watch El Trafico Online

MLS: LA Galaxy at Los Angeles FC Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Some are calling it the biggest game in the history of Major League Soccer. LAFC play host to rivals LA Galaxy for a place in the Western Conference Final of the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs.

If anything, it will be a very Mexican matchup, with Carlos Vela, Uriel Antuna, and Jonathan dos Santos all expected to get the start for their respective team. Vela, of course, is coming off a historic regular season in which he broke the single-season MLS scoring record, but Antuna and JDS might have the momentum here after the Galaxy earned an impressive 2-1 victory over Minnesota United in the First Round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.

Obviously, the big talking point here has been LAFC’s inability to beat the Galaxy. In the almost two years of LAFC’s introduction to Major League Soccer, both of these rival clubs have met on five occasions and the black and gold have never been able to beat the Galaxy. But while that is important to mention, the Galaxy have also never been able to beat LAFC at Banc of California Stadium.

Whether you buy into the hype or not, the reality is this game will be huge. What LAFC have accomplished this season has already been historic, but nobody will remember it if they don’t go on to win the MLS Cup title. Here, they have a genuine opportunity to show what champions are made of or succumb once again to their cross-town rivals. The Galaxy have been there done that, and there is nothing more they would want to do than eliminate their biggest rivals in front of their own fans.
