Apertura 2018 Result: Pachuca 0-1 Monterrey

Monterrey and Pachuca were two of the more active teams during the winter transfer window in Liga MX, and so both teams will be looking to get out of the gate strong for the Clausura 2019.

Monterrey made probably the highest-profile acquisitions of all Mexican teams, landing Argentina international Maximiliano Meza from Club Atlético Independiente in a deal that was worth a reported $15 million. They also brought in a pair of new strikers in Angel Zaldivar from Chivas and Adam Bareiro from Paraguay club Nacional.

So how will all of these new faces fit into an already loaded Monterrey side? Diego Alonso will have to figure out how to incorporate the new signings into a team that went all the way to both the semi-finals of the Liguilla and the final of the Copa MX during the Apertura 2018, losing both to Cruz Azul.

Pachuca also reloaded during the transfer window, bringing in Victor Dávila from Necaxa and Ismael Sosa from Tigres. Dávila was very impressive for Necaxa, and Pachuca going out and bringing him in is surely a sign that ownership is serious about making the Liguilla this season.

Both teams will want to open up with a win, and after Monterrey won away last July, Pachuca will be looking for revenge. However, Monterrey will likely still be strong enough to get a result at home.
