Jaime Lozano made his first call up as U-23 team as he prepares for two friendlies against Denmark, to be played on Wednesday and Saturday. Queretaro´s young prospect Marcel Ruiz leads the way in a team whose goal is to reach the 2020 Olympic games, of which the qualifiers should be played in 2019 in a place yet to be determined.
The friendlies mean these players will miss Copa MX and Liga MX matches, which is probably the reason why starters like Jonathan Gonzalez, Cesar Montes and Carlos Rodriguez of Monterrey and goalkeeper Sebastian Jurado from Veracruz weren’t called up, although this wasn’t the case with Jose Hernandez of Atlas.
The squad called up:
Goalkeepers: Jose Hernandez (Atlas), Luis Malagon (Morelia) Abraham Romero (Pachuca)
Defenders: Carlos Vargas (America), Ismael Govea (Atlas), Cristian Calderon (Necaxa), Vladimir Loroña (Puebla), Adrian Mora (Toluca), Alan Mozo (UNAM), Gilberto Sepulveda (Chivas) Brayton Vasquez (Atlas), Dario Medina (Cimarrones), Gerardo Arteaga (Santos), Antonio Sanchez (Cruz Azul) Omar Mireles (Leon)
Midfielders: Marcel Ruiz (Queretaro) Sebastian Cordova (America), Luis Hernandez (Mineros), Hector Mascorro (Leon), Jesus Angulo (Tijuana), Martin Rodriguez (Queretaro)
Forwards: Jesus Godinez (Chivas), Eduardo Aguirre (Santos), Adrian Villalobos (U de G), Ulises Cardona (Atlas), Paolo Yrizar (Queretaro), Jesus Ocejo (Santos)
