Las Águilas had received offers from Ajax for the talented youngster, but he has opted to move to Spain, where he will join up with fellow Mexican international Andres Guardado.
The current Liga MX champions allowed Lainez to leave after receiving a rumored 15 million Euros offer for the 18-year-old.
Lainez is largely believed to be one of the most promising Mexican players in recent years. At América, he notched five goals and three assists in 50 appearances for Las Águilas, with two of those goals coming in the 2018 Liga MX Apertura Liguilla.
Lainez also recently received his first call-ups to the senior Mexico National Team, debuting in a friendly against Uruguay in September of last year.
Lainez will travel to Sevilla in the coming hours to complete the deal.
