The Mexico National Team will have three outgoing players ahead of Tuesday’s night game against the United States Men’s National Team.
Guillermo Ochoa, Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, and Erick Gutierrez were all released to their respective clubs after participating in Friday night’s game against Uruguay. All three players started in El Tri’s 4-1 defeat to La Celeste.
It can be assumed that Mexico interim coach Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti knew well in advance of Saturday’s announcement. In the case of Lozano and Gutierrez, PSV Eindhoven have a big UEFA Champions League clash to get ready for in 10 days against title contenders Barcelona.
The FMF did not name any replacements for the three players.
Mexico have already landed in Nashville, Tennessee, where they are set to take on the U.S. at Nissan Stadium. Both teams are in the middle of a generational switch and are under an interim manager.
The U.S. did not qualify to the 2018 World Cup.
