It’s been now more than two weeks since Juan Carlos Osorio announced his decision to not renew his contract with the Mexico National Team, and little has been revealed about the direction the Mexican Federations wants to take in terms of a possible replacement.
With Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti determined to say no at all costs and Matias Almeyda flirting with the Costa Rica National team vacancy, according to FOX Deportes journalist Ruben Rodriguez, Antonio “Turco” Mohamed is now a genuine candidate for the job.
Mohamed is currently in his first season with Celta de Vigo after leaving Liga MX’s Monterrey this past May.
On paper, Mohamed would be a better choice than somebody who doesn’t have much knowledge of the Mexican Federation’s inner workings. He also built an impressive resume in Liga MX, where he won two Liga MX titles and a Copa MX. Rodriguez, however, claims that the Mexican Federation’s main goal continues to be somebody outside the Liga MX circle.
What do you think? Would Mohamed be a good choice for the Mexico National Team?
