Liga MX Femenil recap - 2018 Apertura Week 4

A couple of blowouts, a couple of scoreless draws, a couple of golazos, a couple of red cards. Just another week in Liga MX Femenil.

Tigres and Toluca keep scoring at will, while América, Tigres, and Chivas remained unbeaten.

Necaxa 0, Monarcas Morelia 0: Necaxa and Morelia played to a scoreless draw to open the week. Each team registered just one shot on goal, and Morelia will be without the services of Kenia Menera next week as she picked up a red card in the 90th minute.

Atlas 5, Querétaro 0: Ana García and Adriana Iturbide each scored two goals and Fabiola Ibarra scored her second goal of the season as Atlas thrashed Querétaro Friday evening. Iturbide’s second goal was a composed, well placed shot that was the end result of a fantastic through ball from Ibarra.

Club América 2, Puebla 0: Marylin Díaz and Julieta Peralta each scored as América remained unbeaten. Credit also goes to the defense, which held Puebla without a shot on goal. Diaz made her free kick goal look completely effortless.

Lobos BUAP 2, Club Tijuana 1: The best viewing of the week was a surprisingly good Lobos BUAP side edging out a very good Club Tijuana team 2-1 in Puebla. Abigail De Jesús scored on a breakaway heading into the half for the home side. Inglis Hernández played the offside trap perfectly in the 47th minute to draw Xolos Femenil level, but Ana Pérez would give Lobos BUAP the win on a fantastic goal in the 75th minute.

Toluca 5, Cruz Azul 0: Cruz Azul’s Daniela Monroy was shown a red card just 10 minutes in, spelling doom for La Maquina. Toluca would get two goals from María Mauleon and Liliana Rodríguez had a goal and two assists in the rout. Mariel Roman and Zaira Miranda would round out the scoring, but it was Mauleon and Rodríguez running the show as evidenced on the first goal.

Pachuca 1, Pumas 0: Lizbeth Ángeles’ golazo in the fourth minute was all that was needed as Pachuca held on to beat Pumas, who despite giving up just two goals all year find themselves toward the bottom of Grupo 1.

Monterrey 0, Chivas 0: No goals. No shots on goal. Nothing to see here.

Santos Laguna 1, Tigres UANL 4: Liliana Mercado had a brace and Alison González tallied her league leading fifth goal as Tigres downed Santos. María Elizondo also scored for Tigres, while Yahaira Flores drew the lone goal for the hosts. Tigres goalscorers represent three of the top four goalscorers in Liga MX Femenil so far this year.
