Club América’s week ended in perfect fashion with a 3-1 win at Pachuca to get their second victory of the season.

18-year-old Diego Lainez put América ahead after just 16 minutes with his first first ever goal for las Águilas. The speedy winger was a nightmare all night for Pachuca’s defenders, in what was arguably his best performance since making his Liga MX debut.

And it was the youngster who doubled the lead for América midway through the second half with a bolt out of the blue following a breakaway. Lainez collected the ball near the edge of the box and put a stunning effort past the despairing Alfonso Blanco.

Pachuca seemed to have no answer, and in the 80th minute, Oribe Peralta made it 3-0. The striker scored his first goal in months after a successful corner.

There was time for a consolation goal when a penalty was called in the last minute of play. The goal only served for decorating purposes as Pachuca suffered their third Liga MX defeat in three games, while América jumped to fourth in the league table.
