The UEFA Champions League draw for the Group Stage took place this evening in Monaco, with the draw delivering mixed results for the Mexican legion playing in Europe.

PSV Eindhoven, who are possessors of two Mexican players now after Erick Gutierrez signed for the Dutch giants on Wednesday, will be put to a severe test, as they’ve been drawn in arguably the toughest group possible. PSV are to meet Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur, and Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, Hector Herrera and Jesus Manuel “Tecatito” Corona’s club, FC Porto, enjoyed better luck. They avoided major European opposition and will be part of Group D with Lokomotiv Moscow, Schalke 04, and Galatasaray.

For one Mexican player in particular, Hirving “Chucky” Lozano, far from an unsettling draw, it will be interesting to see what the 23-year-old can do against some of the European continent’s elite. At the same time, FC Porto will look best their last two Champions League performances after crashing out in the Round of 16 in both.
