Marco Fabian looks to be one step away from signing with Fenerbahçe of the Turkish Süper Lig. The 29-year-old arrived to Istanbul on Sunday to seal a deal with the 19-time Turkish champions.
Fabian was seen posing with a Fenerbahçe scarf, days after Cruz Azul manager Pedro Caixinha hinted at a move to crosstown rivals Beşiktaş.
Fabian is set to join Mexico National Team teammate Diego Reyes, who also made the move to Fenerbahçe earlier this week.
Fabian was recently left out of Eintracht Frankfurt’s first team squad for the upcoming German Bundesliga season following the team’s defeat to Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup.
This would be Fabian’s fourth professional team after stints with Chivas Guadalajara, Cruz Azul, and Eintracht Frankfurt.
This isn’t the first time Fenerbahçe manager Phillip Cocu has been linked with a transfer move for Fabian. Cocu was manager of PSV Eindhoven, who were once interested in bringing in the Mexican midfielder to their club.
Fenerbahçe finished second in the 2017–18 Süper Lig season and will participate in the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League.
