Turkish side Fenerbahçe officially announced on Saturday that Mexican international Diego Reyes is the latest player to sign with The Yellow Canaries.

Reyes arrived in Istanbul on Friday and was greeted by many of the Fenerbahçe faithful at the airport before taking his medical tests.

Reyes was released from his FC Porto contract back in July, and it took him nearly two months to find a new club. Many clubs were initially interested in the 26-year-old, including Newcastle United, Everton, Bordeaux among others. Complications with the player’s agent were rumored to be the reason Reyes’ signing was severely delayed.

Previously, it was rumored that Fenerbahçe had lost interest in Reyes as well, nevertheless, the club currently positioned 10th in the Turkish Super Lig ended up pulling the trigger on the deal.

Reyes will wear the No. 23 at his fifth club in Europe after passing through FC Porto B, FC Porto, Real Sociedad and Espanyol.

Reyes could make his debut with the yellow-and-navy blue kit on Sept. 1 when Fenerbahçe take on Kayserispor in week four of the Super Lig.
