Marco Fabian, current player for Eintracht Frankfurt, could be on his way to Besiktas of the Süper Lig, this according to Cruz Azul coach Pedro Caixinha.
Following his team’s 1-0 victory over Toluca on Wednesday, Caixinha was asked if there was any alleged Cruz Azul interest in the 29-year-old Mexican midfielder. Caixinha responded with, “From what I know, Marco is close to Besiktas. Pepe told me.”

“Hasta donde sé, Marco está cerca de Besiktas. Pepe (defensa portugués del Besiktas) me lo dijo”, respondió Caixinha.@ESPNmx pic.twitter.com/GxuIzsTsTm
Caixinha, of course, is referring to to the former Real Madrid center back who now plays for Besiktas.
The news comes almost a week after Fabian was left out of Eintracht Frankfurt’s first team squad for the upcoming German Bundesliga season. Fabian previously played for Cruz Azul in 2014.
But Fabian doesn’t appear to be the only Mexican heading to Turkey. Diego Reyes is also rumored to be on his way to Istanbul after Portuguese sports newspaper A Bola reported that the former Club America center back is set to sign for rivals Fenerbahce.
A Bola: #FCPorto linked with interest in striker Aaron Olanare, formerly of CSKA Moscow. Moreirense wanted Ruben Macedo on loan, but Porto to keep him around. Diego Reyes signed with Fenerbahce.
