The Clásico Capitalino’s defensive matchup was balanced by two lopsided wins in another week of Liga MX Femenil play.

Cruz Azul 0, Puebla 0: Cruz Azul conceded a staggering twelve corner kicks in the Week 5 opener against Puebla, but it only resulted in two shots on goal and no actual goals. Cruz Azul is still winless in five.

Necaxa 1, Tigres 3: Alison González scored her league-leading sixth goal in the 21st minute as Tigres downed a shorthanded Necaxa 3-1 in Aguascalientes. Andrea Villalobos got Necaxa’s lone goal in the 33rd, but Nancy Antonio and Evelyn González would score to give Tigres their fourth win of the season. Lucia Muñoz was sent off in the second minute of stoppage time, so she’ll miss Necaxa’s match against Querétaro on August 24th.

Lobos BUAP 0, Veracruz 2: María Tarango notched her first shutout of the season as Veracruz won 2-0 over Lobos BUAP. Paloma Sugey capitalized on a poor punch-out by Lobos’ goalkeeper Paola Manrique in the 29th minute, and Daniela Alcantar’s shot in the 65th was tipped by Manrique but not enough to push it over the bar.

Monterrey 8, Querétaro 0: Daniela Solís had a hat-trick, Diana Evangelista had a brace, and Rebeca Bernal, Mónica Monsiváis, and Aylin Aviléz each contributed a goal as Rayada thrashed Querétaro 8-0 in this year’s biggest margin of victory.

Club América 0, Pumas UNAM 1: Edna Santamaria scored the lone goal in the Clásico Capitalino as two of Liga MX Femenil’s best defensive teams faced off against one another. These teams combined have allowed just four goals total in ten games.

Monarcas Morelia 1, Chivas 5: Chivas continued their league-best run of form as they demolished Monarcas 5-1. Norma Duarte had a brace and Anette Vázquez, Tania Morales, and Dania Pérez all added goals for the visitors. Madeleine Pasco had the lone goal for Monarcas, who fall to 1W 3D 1L on the season.

Santos Laguna 1, León 2: Daniela Delgado got Santos Laguna on the board in the fifth minute, but a class goal from Sanjuana de Jesús in the 47th and a converted penalty in stoppage by Diana García gave León their first victory of the season.

Club Tijuana 1, Toluca FC 2: Tijuana took an early lead on an Inglis Hernández goal and looked to have it in the bag when Karla Zempoalteca was shown a red card. But they conceded a penalty which Yamile Franco converted in the 67th and Mariel Roman scored in the 78th as Xolos fell to Toluca 2-1.
