Gallos Blancos fought from a goal down to hold Club América to a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Corregidora.
Previously, las Águilas had only dropped points in their opening week defeat to Necaxa and had looked ruthless, especially on offense.
América needed 36 minutes to open the scoring when Oribe Peralta rose in front of his defender to send a diving header into the back of the net.
From there, it became all Club América, but they struggled to break down the Queretaro defense, with Tiago Volpi hardly being troubled.
Coach Miguel Herrera then decided it was time to look for a second goal and brought on both Cecilio Dominguez and Renato Ibarra in the 70th minute.
With 15 minutes left, Queretaro got their equalizer. Daniel Villalva dinked a cross towards in the inside of the box, where Camilo Sanvezzo was there to poke in the 1-1.
With the score leveled, at one point close to the end of the game, all Queretaro players were inside their own penalty area to defend. At the end, however, there would be no América winner as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
