Fox Sports 2 will once again be showing Monterrey in English on Fox Sports 2 to supplement their Spanish coverage on Fox Deportes, giving fans of Liga MX in the United States who would prefer to watch coverage in a language they might speak better. It will also give soccer fans who aren’t familiar with Liga MX a chance to see a match covered in English.
Unlike the last Monterrey match that was covered in English, Monterrey might be considered the underdog going into the match. Pumas has been playing very well and come into the match on top of the table in Liga MX. Monterrey, who had been considered one of the favorites going into the 2018 Apertura, struggled against Club América over the weekend, losing 3-0, and drew 1-1 against Club Puebla in midweek Copa MX action.
Los Rayados will still be missing Rogelio Funes Mori, so this gives an opportunity for Luis Madrigal, who returned to Monterrey after a successful loan spell at Alebrijes de Oaxaca, which saw him score 25 goals in 38 appearances in the Apertura 2017 and Clausura 2018 combined. At 25 years old, he’s got a chance to prove himself as being able to lead the line, and if he doesn’t grab it, his future might not be extended with los Rayados.
Dorlan Pabón did not start the Copa MX match, so will likely get a chance to start against Pumas at home, and Monterrey fans will be hoping that he will create enough magic with Avilés Hurtado to overcome a resurgent Pumas side that is on top of the table.
