Chivas will welcome the defending Liga MX champions in search of their first win in the 2018 Liga MX Apertura. El Rebaño Sagrado has been far from spectacular and have yet to found their rhythm under Jose Saturnino Cardozo’s tactics. Cardozo will not be able to count on Orbelin Pineda who is suspended for this match, but will be able to once again count on Jesus Sanchez, who was cleared after being out for 5 months due to an injury.

Chivas is standing in the 14th spot in the Liga MX table, while Santos is slightly higher in the 6th spot. Since the Clausura 2012, Chivas has only been able to beat Club Santos once in their new home.

On the other hand, Club Santos (2 W- 1L) had a decisive 2-0 win against Puebla in week 3 but has not looked promising compared to the Clausura 2018. Santos has faced backlash from their fans and press due to how the club vastly sold the majority of their top players during the summer. Just this past week, another problem developed when the manager and a player on the team ended up in a physical altercation, which caused them to bring aboard a new manager, Salvador Reyes.

Both institutions come into this game with several similarities, including controversial decisions in recent months due to the poor mishandling of players and managers. Chivas being the home team could play a huge factor, but Santos Laguna are the defending champions for a reason. It is what makes this one of the more interesting gams of Week 4 in Liga MX.
