Monterrey will travel to CDMX to face off against Club América at the Estadio Azteca tonight in what is likely to be the highest profile match of the weekend. Monterrey will be looking to extended their 100% winning record in the match while América will be looking to gain ground on the co-leaders of LigaMX.

Monterrey will be without the services of Arturo Gonzalez for the foreseeable future after he had surgery to repair a rupture of the cruciate ligament in his right knee. It is expected to rule him out for five to six months. Meanwhile, América is still without Jeremy Menez as he is still out recovering from an injury that has sidelined him since before the season began.
Monterrey’s lineup will probably feature a similar lineup to what the team played against Querétaro, and hopefully Rogelio Funes Mori will have shaken off the rust that’s he’s shown so far this season. He’s still getting into great positions, but his scoring touch seemed to let him down last weekend. If he’s not firing on all cylinders, however, not to worry as Monterrey still have Avilés Hurtado, Dorlan Pabón, and Rodolfo Pizarro has yet to have a breakout game. Perhaps he’ll have it against América.

There also won’t be too many surprises to América’s lineup, with Diego Lainez getting a chance to shine on the wing. Striker Roger Martínez is one to watch out for, as he’s hit the ground running in LigaMX for Las Águilas.
