Club América have received yet another piece of bad news ahead of the upcoming start to the 2018 Apertura, as star Paraguyan attacking midfielder Cecilio Domínguez suffered a broken jaw in las Águilas fourth match of the preseason against Monarcas Morelia in San José, California.

Domínguez was injured after playing just 10 minutes when he violently collided into Morelia defender Emmanuel Loeschbor while looking to get onto the end of a loose ball outside on the edge of the Monarcas box.

Domínguez’s injury is a huge blow to Club América who announced yesterday that French attacker Jérémey Ménez would miss the entire 2018 Apertura with a torn ACL in his left knee. The Paraguayan attacking midfielder had been one of the best Club América players during recent tournaments. Las Águilas will now have to hope that Domínguez can make a quick recovery or find a replacement if they hope to be competitive during the 2018 aperture tournament.
