Following Mexico’s elimination from the World Cup, one name continues to be on top of Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui’s wishlist.

According to Barcelona-based magazine Don Balón, Lopetegui is eyeing Mexico national team midfielder Hector Herrera as one of his new Real Madrid signings. Lopetegui was previously manager of Hector Herrera at FC Porto but faces an obstacle in the form of club president Florentino Perez, who is said to not be too fond of the idea of signing Herrera.

Despite that, Lopetegui is rumored to be determined to convince Florentino, especially if Luka Modric and Toni Kroos were to leave the club during the summer. Both have been instrumental for Real Madrid during the last few years but have been linked to move away from the club after the sudden departure of manager Zinedine Zidane. Another player rumored to be on his way out of “Los Blancos” is Cristiano Ronaldo.
