Club America have received some bad news ahead of the upcoming start to the 2018 Liga MX Apertura, as French forward Jeremey Menez as been ruled out for the season with a torn ACL injury. Menez is expected to be out from 4-6 months.

Menez has had an injury-ridden time with Club América, and although he has shown glimpses of promise, a lot of his time in Mexico has been spent on the sidelines.

Club América are said to already be analyzing potential replacements. This after las Águilas were rumored to have been actively searching another forward during the offseason, with Bas Dost or Luuk De Jong being two potential targets. Ultimately, the club settled for the signing of Villarreal striker Roger Martinez.

The only other major signings América made for the 2018 Liga MX Apertura were those of defenders Luis Reyes from Atlas and Jorge Sanchez from Santos Laguna.
