Midfielder Guido Rodriguez delivered his first two goals at the Estadio Azteca since arriving to Club América in their 3-0 win over Atlas on Sunday. The victory came a week after las Águilas lost their opening game against Necaxa.
The first goal of the game came at the back of an error from Atlas goalkeeper Jose Hernandez, who mistimed a corner for Guido Rodriguez to fire into the back of the net.
América would then have a second goal to show for their dominance when Mateus Uribe swept home a Renato Ibarra cross to put things at 2-0.
Las Águilas were unmoved to start the second period, and in the 54th minute, a corner kick led to América’s third goal of the game. Once again, goalkeeper Hernandez was guilty of a bad decision, and Rodriguez was there to notch his second goal of the game.
With their first three points of the tournament in the bag, América next travel to Hildago to take on Pachuca in Week 3.
