Juan Carlos Osorio will no longer be manager of the Mexico National Team. According to various reports, the Colombian manager will reject the contract extension offered by the Mexican Federation and will be free to decide the next step in his coaching career.
Despite another Round of 16 exit in the World Cup, Osorio was always the Mexican Federation’s number one choice to lead the process towards the 2022 World Cup. But now Osorio has allegedly opted out, with strong rumors suggesting that both the Colombia National Team and United States Men’s National Team are interested in his services.
With Osorio now expected to be out of the picture, the Mexican Federation may look into convincing Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti to take over the Mexico National Team, while former Chivas Guadalajara manager Matias Almeyda is also expected to be a strong option for El Tri.
Mexico’s next game is a friendly in early September against Uruguay.
