Liga MX Femenil recap - Week 1

A brief look back at the first week of the 2018 Apertura.

Liga MX Femenil got back underway, kicking off the third season last Friday.

Cruz Azul 1, Pachuca 2: Pachuca came from behind to defeat Cruz Azul in the season opener. Sharon Barba got the scoring started in the third minute, but Fátima Arellano would hit a screamer from distance in the fifteenth and Esbeydi Salazar would hit one off of the underside of the crossbar and past Mariana Zárraga to win it for Tuzos.

Necaxa 0, Santos Laguna 1: Yahaira Flores converted a penalty deep in stoppage time to give Santos Laguna the win.

Puebla 4, Veracruz 0: Jessica Tenorio scored just two minutes in as Puebla crushed visiting Veracruz 4-0 on Sunday. Mirelle Arciniega, Carmen Taboada, and Mariela Jiménez also scored for the home side, who were playing their first game in club history.

Morelia 1, Atlas 0: Monarcas’ Madeleine Pasco got the lone goal for Morelia off of a set piece in Morelia’s first win since 2017.

Toluca 4, Lobos BUAP 0: Karen Becerril’s brace propelled Toluca over Liga MX Femenil debutantes Lobos BUAP by a 4-0 scoreline. Liliana Rodríguez and Kenya Téllez also tallied for Toluca, with María Mauleon’s assist on Téllez’ goal being one of the highlights for Diablas Rojos.

Chivas 1, León 0: Ana Huerta capitalized on a mistake by León’s Montserrat González to give Chivas the 1-0 win at Estadio Akron.

Tigres 4, Querétaro 2: Tigres Femenil was up 3-0 at one point but only managed to put the game away in the 88th minute on this goal by Alison González. María Elizondo had two goals and Liliana Mercado added another for Tigres while Alejandra Tapia’s brace was the bright spot for Gallos Femenil.

Tijuana 1, Pumas 0: Inglis Hernández got Xolos Femenil on the board in the 10th minute while Itzel González kept a clean sheet to give Xolos Femenil the 1-0 victory in Estadio Caliente over Pumas.
