With Juan Carlos Osorio’s continuity with the Mexico National Team still in the air, one rumored name floating around as a possible replacement could already find himself disqualified from the selection process. According to FOX Deportes journalist Ruben Rodriguez, it is unlikely Mexico consider Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli as a possible replacement after the 58-year-old manipulated the Mexican Federation into getting a raise with Chile.
It was a few years ago when Sampaoli’s name first appeared as a candidate for the Mexico national team job. Allegedly, Sampaoli received an economic offer from the Mexican Federation, which he then used as leverage to ask for more money at his current job with Chile.
With Juan Carlos Osorio’s tenure likely coming to an end in the next few days, it seems like there is no way Mexico would consider giving the job to Sampaoli. For now, the candidate that has received the most buzz is former Chivas manager Matias Almeyda.
