France and Croatia will meet in the World Cup Final. While this surprising rematch of the 1998 Semifinal took many by surprise, it is even more surprising for Mexico fans who have seen Mexico beat Croatia and France over the past two World Cups. For El Tri fans, there is actually many interesting tidbits surrounding this final.

-With the France-Croatia final, had Mexico beaten Spain, this means they would have beaten all WC winners this decade in the World Cup (Germany 2018, Croatia 2014, France 2010).

- Javier Hernandez and Cuauhtemoc Blanco have scored World Cup goals against both France and Croatia.

- Mexico may not have much in terms of World Cup goals scored, but they are one of the few teams to have players score in three seperate World Cup finals. Besides Hernandez and Blanco, Rafael Marquez also scored against one of these teams (Croatia 2014).

- These are the two teams Cuauhtemoc Blanco scored penalties on in the World Cup.

-Since Mexico had only defeated a World Cup winning team once in a World Cup game in 2010, this will be the first time that both teams that will play in a World Cup final have suffered World Cup defeats against Mexico.

So there are some of the tidbits for the World Cup. At this rate, start penciling in Germany vs South Korea as the 2022 World Cup final. Or Germany vs Cameroon if South Korea fails to make it to Qatar.
