Mexico international Miguel Layun to sign for Villarreal — Report

Villarreal has agreed to sign Mexico international Miguel Layun from FC Porto in a deal worth four million dollars, according to Spanish daily newspaper Marca. The deal is said to be for the next four years and will be officially announced on Wednesday.

After losing his starting spot at FC Porto, Layun’s career in Europe has been in a limbo in recent months. While the 30-year-old impressed in a six month loan with Sevilla, the “Nervionenses” failed to activate his buyout option. Now, Layun gets another chance to play in Spain, this time with the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal finished 5th in La Liga last season and will be praticipating in the Group Stage of the 2018/2019 Europa League tournament.

Layun previously played for Veracruz, Atalanta in Italy, Club América and Watford of English the Premier League. Most recently, Layun was part of the Mexico National Team that participated in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
