Mexico national team captain Andres Guardado has warned officials to be on the lookout for Neymar’s theatrics ahead El Tri’s Round of 16 clash with Brazil.
Speaking to media in a press conference on Friday, Guardado didn’t hold back on Brazil’s star player.
“We all know Neymar,” said the Real Betis man. “He likes to exaggerate fouls, dive a lot”.
Neymar, of course, is a huge part in the Verde-Amarela’s team, and while he is known for taking the ground a lot, he is also one of the most fouled players in international football. In Brazil’s first group stage game against Switzerland, he actually broke the record for player most fouled in a World Cup in the last 20 years.
Guardado’s words come on the cusp of arguably one of the biggest games for Mexico in recent history, and one in which they will be heavy underdogs. Is Andres Guardado playing with fire and only motivating Neymar even more, or is he right to criticize him? What do you think?
