A second half Carlos Vela goal set LAFC on course to their fifth victory of the season, beating the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-0 on Friday.
There were plenty of chances for both sides in the opening 45 minutes, with both teams trying their luck from long range.
The best chance of the half fell to LAFC’s Walker Zimmerman when the center back sent a header into the crossbar from a free-kick.
With both teams heading into the break scoreless, it was the team from Los Angeles who started the second half better. In the 59th minute, Carlos Vela grabbed the breakthrough in stunning fashion. The Mexican international produced an outstanding left footed shot past Stefan Marinovic to give Los Angeles the lead.
Diego Rossi then wrapped things up moments later when an error from the goalkeeper finished with the young Uruguayan firing home the visitor’s second goal of the night.
LAFC next will travel to Montreal to take on the Impact before playing the first home game against the Seattle Sounders on April 29.
