Club América come into their match against league stragglers Lobos BUAP on the back of a less than impressive 1-0 victory over bottom of the table Atlas at home last weekend. The match once again highlighted the offensive struggles that have plagued las Águilas since Miguel Herrera took charge of the squad at the start of last season.

The singings of Jérémy Ménez and Andres Ibargüen were supposed to alleviate much of the offensive struggles that have plagued las Águilas. However, neither of the two big offseason signings have started and played all ninety minutes of a match. When they were given limited chances to show their worth, neither Ibargüen nor Ménez were overly impressive. Despite not having shown much in their limited cameo appearances, it is rumored that both Ménez and Ibargüen will be in the starting XI for this match.

Loboa BUAP come into their first Liga MX match at the historic Estadio Azteca in the midst of a very poor run. In their first four matches of the 2018 Apertura tournament Lobos BUAP are winless taking a single point from a surprise draw against Pumas UANL last weekend. The offensive firepower that characterized their Lobos tournament in Liga MX has seemingly vanished into thin air. As a result, the squad from Pebla is dangerously close to falling into last place of the relegation table.

For Lobos BUAP, every game from this point onwards is a must win of they hope to avoid making the drop back down to Ascenso MX after this season. If they hope to take anything from this match, Lobos BUAP will have to capitalize on the relative lack of familiarity and cohesion that will be on display from Club América if both of their big offseason signings do in fact start the match.

However, given the recent poor run of form on the part of Lobos BUAP, it is hard to see more than one clear winner in this match. Club América should easily take all three points from this match. Anything less than a victory from the home side and questions should be asked of head coach Miguel Herrera.
